Will the Pats Finally Draft a Linebacker?

As we are fast approaching draft day 2008, many in Patriots nation are sitting on pins and needles wondering... how will Belichick and Pioli fill the many holes on the current roster?  Will the Pats trade down from the #7 in round 1 and acquire additional later round picks or the ever popular trade for additional picks in 2009?  I think the Pats will trade the pick.  Now I'm not a mind reader, but here's what I'd do... I would move down some where around pick 20 and also attempt to add a pick in the mid-second round area.   Moving to pick 20 I would take the best corner or linebacker on the board.  A lot will depend on who is falling before the Pats selection and who they believe will be available if they wait until the 20's.  We all know Belichick is smarter than the rest of us, and he places a premium on maximizing the company dollar.  Unless he and Pioli have fallen in love with Darren McFadden, Ryan Clady or perhaps another player who falls to pick 7, they will not shell out the huge guarenteed deal for a rookie.  They will move down and wait and let the best available talent fall in their laps.  There are 3 corners that appear to be solid options who might slip to pick 20.  Mike Jenkins of South Florida, Aquib Talib of Kansas and Leodis McKelvin of Troy.  This is apparently a weak crop of linebackers but there should be some good prospects available in round 2.  Given the possible options, i would take a long look at Phillip Wheeler of Georgia Tech.  He is a versatile talent that the Pats require.  Curtis Lofton of Oklahoma is a Tedy Bruschi/Ted Johnson type that might fit the bill.  Why do I get this feeling they will probably go D or O-Line?
